Between two worlds by wiewiorka Between two worlds by wiewiorka
This painting has its history. At first, it was a simple landscape of a forest in May. Then, other idea followed and the original painting was almost completely transformed. When I was younger, I could stare at this forest for hours.

Very beautiful, great concept. It makes me think of those carved animal figurines from Oaxaca.

I kindof dislike the white lines spacing the forest apart, kindof sloppy transition between the two "worlds" (If I can call them that.) Other than that, I like it alot. :)

Your mixing of fantasy & artistry and reality reminds me of when I go out into the woods myself and let my imagination run wild... simply beautiful. Wonderful idea, technique, and composition.

what a neat idea! i like the think white lines separating the "real" from the "imaginary," if you could call either that. it's too bad it's so dark, though.

I was once looking in a psychology book (yes, I was bored) when I saw two drawings of a cat by a person with schizophrenia. One looked like a normal image of a cat, but the other was psychadelic just like you see in this image. It was very interesting to see two perspectives from the same person, and you manage to do that excellently here as well.

absolutely wonderful ..its almost sad to me.. like the curtain of innocence opening to the real world,, gradually disappearing on both sides heralding the loss of that magical way children see things..

at 39, my curtain has still not opened ;)

congrats on your DD ..very well deserved!

Great work, i like the continuity and the break between the two patterns, it's like the vision trough a magical curtain wich reveals colors where life is,...

It's 90x60 cm, an ususal size :) I can't remember now if the canvas was home-made or a pre-made one. When I was a kid, you couldn't just buy canvas in socialist Poland, if you didn't have the art diploma. Mom is an engineer, so she had to make the frame with the canvas and all. I just don't remember the exact timeline of this one. I'll ask Mom :)

I like it a lot, I agree with SuseDolAmroth, the three parts are in perfect relation, but I do not find the primary colors bothering. I think it makes it better, seeing as the forest is relatively realistic, the rest, the almost surreal part is in "primary colors" as Suse said. I like it and I like the contrast.

This reminds me of a portal opening out of a child's bedroom..a faux landscape of wallpaper transforming into a genuine forest. Very nice. i like the vibrant colors.

At first I though "What's that" then I liked it. However there is room for improvement. The three areas are perfect in relation to each other. However I really think some room for improvement.
My almost trademark comment. Get away from those primary colours. Unless you're a huge Dada fan there is no point in using them. Perhaps you could also try to reflect the lighting reducing from top to bottom like in the cetre one in the other parts? I think it would give it a more uniform appearance.
It is a very nice piece, I just think it could be better!

absolutely beautiful, the colours are stunning and I like the way the realistic part is inserted in the middle of the somewhat chaotic colour scheme lol (which is in no way a bad thing, this is the first Abstract Expressionism sorta piece I've liked in a long time :D)
